We took a break for a day, then headed South to the town of Sumner, WA, just East of Puyallup. We stopped at the home of Mark Rockwell and Kelli Sexton to meet them and check out their really neat 20x30 Garage/Shop with a full second floor "Craft Room." Mark's a high-end computer programer and Kelli's a full time housekeeper and mom.

Mark said this was the first thing he'd ever tackled of this magnitude but with the plans and the help of his buddy, Tim, they were able to put his barn together over the Summer!
Mark put three 4' Dormer windows on each side which looks great from the outside and provides plenty of light and ventilation on the inside.
So, we saw fit to bestow upon Mark, the BarnPlans "I never built anything like this before in my life....so, how do you like me now" Good Luck Horseshoe Barn thingy!! Nice work, Mark!!
With majestic Mt. Rainier ever in the background, we hit the road in search of some of the classic local barn styles of the area.
Well, we didn't have to look far....there were examples everywhere in various styles and states of repair.
Gambrels were definitely the predominant architectural design....
....and we saw just about every variation you could imagine!!
On a tip from a local store keeper, we headed our motorhome a little further South to the campground at Benbow Lake, near Graham, WA, to spend the night. This turned out to be one of the nicest stops we made. The people were friendly.... being off season, we had the place practically all to ourselves....
....and the sunset over the lake was serene.
