Well folks, this month we're going to do something a little different. For the past three years our Barnplans "Barn Showcase" has been bringing you the best photos possible of our customer's barn projects, from start to finish, so you can see just how it's done! But, alas, we're remiss....... all of the pictures have been of the outside of the barn! Well, get set, kids......we're goin' inside!

-------------------------

Thumbnail This month's barn builders, Trammell and Lynn Wells, retired and moved just outside the little town of Oxford, Mississippi, home of " ol' Miss", where they purchased their 126 acre farm and built this beautiful 3 bedroom/3 bath 32'x 60' combination Gambrel Barn Home/Garage Shop. The barn is split in two with the left half dedicated to the 3 bedroom/2 bath living area and the right half, a working Garage/Shop with it's own full bath!
Thumbnail The exterior of the barn is cypress board and batten. The doors are hung on rollers as traditional barn doors are, but behind them are glass doors. It was Lynn's intent to have the window areas look like the open stall doors of a horse barn. Four 8' gambrel dormer windows were installed on the second floor, as well.
Thumbnail Shed roof porches were added for shade and outdoor living space and the kitchen was tucked under the porch at the far end.
Thumbnail This "House End" view shows how the kitchen and front porch are situated. The chimney is made out of good old Mississippi rip-rap.
Thumbnail The business end of the barn....."Oscar the Lab" stands guard, flanked by "Pick-em-up-Patty " and "Rosie Raptor" the 4-wheeler.
Thumbnail Inside the over 900 sq. ft.Garage/Shop there's a storage room and full bathroom as well as plenty of room for Trammell's toys.....the John Deere, a riding mower and the cool dump-bed four wheeler plus lots of room for shop space.
Thumbnail With a 32' wide loft covering nearly half the 30' garage/shop portion of the barn, there's plenty of room for storing all those doo-dads you don't need to get at all that often.
Thumbnail Well, the outside's great but the interior is where Lynn's artistic talents really show. The living room is beautiful with it's stone fireplace and period furnishings......and with the simple painted concrete floor, it's practical as well.
Thumbnail The dining area has the same country charm.
Thumbnail The small and efficient kitchen sports a ceramic tile counter top with a genuine brick floor. Lynn is hand painting the art work on the cabinet doors, herself.

Finally, Lynn writes:

Dano,
I know the elevations are really what you wanted to see and I have sent you several, but I have also enclosed some interior shots. I wanted to showcase how effective your dormers can be on the inside. I used one as a sleeping alcove for the Grandbabies and tucked a full master bath into another one. .....we really enjoyed building our barn and thank you heartfully for the plans. They were our springboard.

Sincerely,
Lynn Wells

Well thank you, Lynn, for the pictures of your beautiful new Barn Home. I know that everyone will enjoy touring it as much as we did! Great job!!
