Peter decided to build his barn in the back yard right behind his swimming pool.
Because the ground is prone to freezing in the portion of Massachusetts where Peter lives he had to build his barn on a 42" frost footing....the details are provided in the plans. First they excavated....
Then they poured the perimeter footing and foundation.
They backfilled and graded inside and around the foundation....
....and poured the concrete slab.
Then they framed the walls, joisted and sheeted the second floor loft and built the stairs, all according to the plans.
Now the cool part....setting the trusses. Rather than build the trusses himself, Peter hired a local truss company to build and deliver them.
The trusses are up and so are the rafters for the Side Entry.
Siding and roof sheeting goes on....
Now it's really taking shape!
Roofing, doors & windows and finish trim....the copper flashing looks classy.
A nice roll-up garage door and she's just about done.
A coat of classic "Barn Red" and it's a done deal!
Nice work, Peter....you've got yourself a great looking little barn!!
